Watching TV

With a fall chill still hanging in the air, why not stay home with some good DVDs and Blu-rays.

Ghost ProtocolMission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

When someone bombs the Kremlin, it would normally be up to Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team to find out who did it…except that everyone, including their old bosses, think they did it. What follows is a globe-trotting adventure that, oddly, comes from director Brad Bird, the ex-Simpsons writer best known for such animated classics as The Iron Giant and The Incredibles. Besides the action-packed film, both the DVD and DVD/Blu-ray combo pack — which Barnes & Noble has for $22.14 and $34.08, respectfully —include two making-of featurettes, with the DVD/Blu-ray combo adding two more featurettes, an alternate ending, and a digital copy.

SouthParkSouth Park: The Complete Fifteenth Season

With their new season in full swing, it’s time to revisit all the crazy adventures these kids from Colorado went on last year. Besides the fourteen episodes, this collection — which Barnes & Noble has for $36.30 for the DVD or $49.42 for the Blu-ray — also has mini commentaries by co-creators/voice actors Trey Parker and Matt Stone, deleted scenes, and a documentary that shows how they made every episode in less than a week.

We Bought a ZooWe Bought A Zoo

Most people have trouble keeping a goldfish alive. So you can imagine the stress Matt Damon is feeling after he not only buys an entire zoo, but also has to romance its head keeper, Scarlett Johansson. Directed by Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire), and based on Benjamin’s Mee’s memoir of the same name, the film is available from Barnes & Noble on both DVD $29.99 that has a commentary and making-of featurette, or in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack $39.99 that adds deleted scenes and a gag reel.
